Where do you live? I am such a "stay at home" type of person, that my house and our little world is the center of my universe. Now, I realize that lots of people don't feel that way . . . . . some people like adventure and exploring mysterious new places. Well, I do like to discover new places and meet new people, too. But being at home is my favorite place to be!
Around here, we do lots of puttering around inside our house and more recently, we've been trying to fix up our yard. We bought a darling old Victorian house, right on Main Street, in Our Town. We are at the west end of town, just three blocks from our elementary school, library, and community pool. We can walk to the park and the ice cream shoppe, or we can visit with all the neighbors in our little neighborhood. I know, that seems kind of quaint, but that's the way we like it!
We just moved into our house last summer, so there is still so much we want to do. Do you ever want to just rip out a wall or tear out a closet and make room for something new and different? Well, I can't afford to start ripping and tearing, but I can buy a gallon of paint! So, this week I've been painting a big, old yucky closet in our upstairs hallway. Eventually we hope to tear it out and remodel the upstairs, but for now, I need some storage space for all of my sewing stuff, so I started by just pulling out everything that had been stashed in there for the past many months. I washed everything down, and then when it was dry I started painting. I'm a very messy painter!
But when it is finished, at least it will be clean, and fresh, and it will look so much better than it did before.
So, today, I am hoping that if you have a minute, you will tell us about YOUR house and yard. If you live in an apartment, or share a room with a room mate . . . . if you have a huge house and enormous yard . . . . or if you live in a medium size house with a messy yard that you are fixing up . . . . your little world is so much a part of YOU. Let's talk about your home and where your heart is! Have a fun weekend! Nina
Just visited your blog. I was inspired by your adoption journey in "Waiting for Grace" and recommended it to my husband's two nieces who each adoped their precious little girls from China. Thanks for sharing your part of the world with me. It is inspirational.

Hi Nina, thanks for talking about your home. It looks and sounds like such a beautiful place to live. We have lived in our house for about 24 years. We love it here. I've thought I would like to live on an acreage and be closer to nature and have more privacy BUT I've realized that it would be so much more work. I hardly spend any time outdoors these days, just to take our dog for a walk. Because of that, I think our home is fine. I often dream of a larger place and a front verandah and all those neat things but our place is comfy and well lived in. I'd like to have a better creative place and have things more organized, but when I stop to think of people that have lost their homes or can't afford a great place, I am pleased with what I have.
As we are coming and going lots these day with trips to our farm and to take our daughter to activities, our place isn't that clean right now. I did just recently take a couple of photos of a china cupboard. It just gives a tiny inkling taste of "our home". http://windyangels.blogspot.com/2007/08/shine-kind-of-grey-day-outside-and.html
Thanks again Nina, and also for the great photos.
