I was surfing through blogs today thinking about Try Day when I read the news. Poetry Thursday is coming to an end. Although I have not participated much lately, I will miss sharing the Love of Poetry.
I started thinking about how much I love community blogs ~they are a great way to connect people. They are also a wonderful way to start when you are new to blogging...not only do you have a focus for a post, but you have something safe to comment on new blogs about as well as get a whole bunch of new visitors.
For Try Day I am encouraging you to Take the Plunge!!!
Share here in the comments your experiences participating in community blogs ~maybe link to some of your recent contributions.
~What do you like about community blogs?
~Maybe there is a community blog that you want to participate in but haven't yet; what's holding you back??
~Maybe while browsing through you will get the idea to start your own community blog....you could bounce some ideas off of us or maybe find a partner....
{Please share the links of any other community blogs you think should be listed here.}
Community Blogs
I am setting this to post on Saturday, but it is really Thursday evening...Early tomorrow I leave to go to NY for a Wedding. There is no way for me to test if the links above work. The links are also over at the sidebar under the header community blogs. ~Melba
Thanks for the suggestions!
~I added them all to the sidebar.
If you come up with any more let me know!
XO,
Melba

Right before I read this post, earlier in the week, I was checking out www.mamasaysom.com.
I participated just last night : ) http://nyjlm.blogspot.com/2007/08/quest.html

Hmm. I'm a few days late but wanted to respond anyway. :)
I just found Poetry Thursday a few weeks ago and am very sad to see it go (though I'm sure there will be others that emerge to fill the gap left). My newest favorite community blog is "3 Word Wednesday" at http://littlenibbler.blogspot.com/search/label/3WW.
From the description at the site:
"Welcome to Three Word Wednesday. Each week, I will post three (or more) random words. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of those words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything. I'll also attempt to write something using the same words. Leave a comment if you participate. Many fun and interesting people might visit your blog."
I've only participated for the last two weeks, but each time I've been utterly astounded by the variety of ways the prompt words are used. I've found some new favorite blogs, and have been inspired to exercise my own creativity. And it seems like a lovely community of people who read one another's responses, too. Highly recommended!

I was thinking that maybe Getting to know you day and dialog day were a bit similar and if people like writing maybe we could create the poetry prompt something like poetry thursday?just a thought :-)
I would have so many ideas of community to create:)
I used to create yahoogroups and organize things for everyone, was a lot of fun and give me a job to do when I felt useless and unemployed :D
I have already taken part to lots of community what I dont really like about them is the fact that the comments we get dont always sound true, it seems like it's where people go to get a bigger audience ^_^a kind of myspace networking in a less concealed way maybe?;)
I love challenging myself but sometimes I am not inspired by the themes.
but a community like here made me come across different and very interesting souls:)

Oh, I am so sad to hear that Poetry Thursday is ending. I've only participated a handful of times, but I did really enjoy the site. I'm definitely going to participate this week -- LOVE the prompt.
One community blog I definitely think should be here is Studio Friday. http://www.studiofriday.org
~What do you like about community blogs?
There's not much about community blogs that I don't love! I like the idea of...well, community, and the questions and prompts, and just the creativity it frees up inside you, and ideas that are born that wouldn't be without those blogs. The getting to connect and share and find wonderful new bloggers and friends.
~Maybe there is a community blog that you want to participate in but haven't yet; what's holding you back??
Goodness! I'd LOVE to regularly participate in all of the ones you've mentioned, and this one. I've actually got a folder in my AOL favorites titled Participation and every week, I want to do them all -- but it's rare that I actually do. What's holding me back? Time! I see the super cool Illustration Friday topic and come up with an idea -- and suddenly, it's the next Friday and a new topic is up!
~Maybe while browsing through you will get the idea to start your own community blog....you could bounce some ideas off of us or maybe find a partner....
I'd love to do that -- I really admire what you've done here and can't imagine how much work it was -- but right now, my plate is too full and I need about ten additional mouths to eat fast enough to keep it from spilling over without taking on a commitment like that. Plus, I think it's really not fair to start up something like that if you can't follow through and really keep it up -- and as it is, I struggle to post consistently in my own blog. I'm working on it, though!
I think this week, I'll Take The Plunge by trying to participate in at least three of the community blogs.
I'd started a little serial story in my blog, based on the weekly prompts and Sunday Scribblings and did it two weeks, then got off track and skipped three weeks. Tomorrow, I'm really going to make an effort to get BACK on track.
Hope you had a safe and fun trip!
