Scattered Saturdays . . . wander through GoddessLeonie!!
So here I am, once again finally surfacing -- quite literally!!!! Missouri has been flooded again for the last week. I've lived here my entire life, and I've never spent any length of time like this before! We have snow, ice, heat, and tornadoes -- but I've never had a spring and summer that was under water! The chaos of life is definitely catching up with us!!! My apologies for not being able to keep up with my writing --
I was SO thrilled to have the opportunity to talk on the phone with Leonie -- it was such fun to feel her enthusiasm for life!! And to be able to throw the interview in with our visit was just icing on the cake!!! There is something about making a connection to a sister that allows you to expand on what you feel -- I started out just excited about interviewing one of the weekly writers for JustBeConnected!! I thought it would be a different twist -- but I found myself really connecting while Iwas talking with Leonie -- the smile I heard -- and the smile I was wearing were just so warm and deep!!!!! When I visited Leonie's site, I found her love for the earth, her connection of self, and her connection with her sisters in every word!!
Read the interview and get to know Leonie -- and visit her site! I think you'll find something very refreshing, and perhaps her art work will be a connection for you!
Tell me about yourself!!
Well, I'm a 25 year old artist, writer and photographer. i also run womens
circles and retreats i call Goddess Gatherings. I live in the south of
Australia near alpine mountains in a cottage with my beloved and our spirit-dog
charlie. I grew up on a cattle farm in the tropical north of Australia, and we
are planning to head back there to live in the country and close to the earth
and family again.
2. What is your most important accomplishment to date?
I I think just being myself has been my most important accomplishment. I feel like the most important thing I can do this life is be the best and truest Leonie I can be.
I am also deeply proud of myself for following my intuition to run my first Goddess Gathering retreat - nine women, three days, a very transformational, blissful and sacred experience. It took a huge amount of energy to run it, and it called on every part of me, but to see the shining faces of the goddesses around me was the greatest expression of a soul contract made true.
I am proud to be a spirit on earth at this time, proud that I dared to love and grow, proud that I have written books, created artworks, had amazing picnics, connected people in new ways, let go, healed, and gone where my spirit asks me too. I'm proud that I've travelled overseas to wild and wonderful places and proud that I am learning how to BE in balance with the DO. I'm proud that I am a dog-mama, a lover, sister, daughter, friend and all these things. Everything is equally important and equally sacred.
3. What motivates you?
Beautiful, beautiful life. The people in it. The connections we share. Mama Earth.
Sacred space, seeing people find the divine in themselves,
being in love, going on adventures.
I most want to create because I want to remind myself and others of the beauty
inside us. I want to remind myself and others that we are goddesses and gods,
that anything is possible and that love is all around.
Why GoddessLeonie – why that path? Why on the web?
Such an interesting question! I started off as leonielife.com on the web about four years
ago... sharing about my everyday adventures. Then as I began circling with wise
women, I realised that I most wanted to remind myself that I was a goddess. I
headed off to India late last year, and in that time my website went on its own
self imposed retreat, and leonielife.com
just didn't want to be brought back. When I returned home I had this deep
knowing that I wanted to live my life on an even more authentic, soulful level.
GoddessLeonie.com was born. So that's the story of the web name!
If you are asking why Goddess Leonie is the path I have chosen on a spiritual
journey, well, that's a whole other but intertwined story! :) I believe
that Great Spirit has no gender, it's way bigger and more profound than that...
but that we are each a beautiful part of Spirit... each of us are Gods and
Goddesses. We each have our stories, our myths, the lessons we can teach
others, the lessons we learn ourselves. Just as Aphrodite is the Goddess of
Love and Beauty, we are each a Goddess that has special gifts. In 2010 I'll be on the land again living
in a country with my love, our puppy and some horses. I'll still be creating,
and living my life however my spirit calls. I'll still be living the Goddess
life, whether that means circles, retreats, photography, writing, painting...
however it blooms, I'm happy. I'd love for my website, art, creativity and spirit to touch millions of
people's lives. Just letting you know, universe :) Last few, that I just have to add!!! I
absolutely LOVE the "Things to Do This Life" list!!!! Where did
you come up with the idea for that? How has it worked in to your everyday
life – it has to be different having made the list – kinda knowing ahead of
time what you *might* do! *grin*
And last – for now anyway – the path you describe – of magic, love, dreams and the
goddess within you – has it drawn others? Allowed you to develop
friendships that you would otherwise not have been connected to? I wrote my Things to do this life list after
reading Superhero's Mondo Beyondo list www.superherojournal.com. I wanted
to write all my dreams down to do this life... since then, so many have come
true! Some intentionally, some just HAPPENED in the most serendipitous and
beautiful ways, without me even REALISING it was on my list until long after.
Where would you like to see yourself in 2010? And your
websites in terms of users, features, etc.?
For example, I wrote down that I wanted to see a buffalo, which is one of my
totem animals. We don't have them in Australia, so I thought for sure I'd have
to wait until I was in the US to see them. Then I went on adventure holidays
with my love to a tiny town in the middle of South Australia nowhere. And guess
what? Just next to that tiny town is a big zoo that I didn't even know about. A
big open plain zoo that has large herds of animals in big paddocks that you
drive through on a bus. And guess what had just been moved there? BUFFALOS. It
was one of the most beautiful and joyful days in my life to be sitting right
next to these large, mythical creatures that had been so important to me. Dream
come true in the most impossible of ways!

My apologies! I did not realize I carried over the colors from posting the interview on my site as well! I fixed it so that all the fonts are the same *normal* size -- and all the text is in black! I hope that helps! :::hugs:: ~Scarlett~

Please, please be mindful of those of us who are a little older and whose eyesight isn't what it used to be. I couldn't read half of this post because of the tiny, tiny fonts and the lack of contrast between text and background!
